It’s that time of year when the new batch of first years are over the top anxious about UBC, which results in the views PEAKING on my UBC related pots! WOOOO!!! Congrats on your acceptance and BE SUPER SUPER EXCITED for Fall! If anyone has any questions about coming into UBC, feel free to comment and leave questions, I LOVE questions about UBC π Side note, I’m sick and tired of this rain, MAKE IT STOP.
And to make your life easier, I’ll just link you to the “top” posts regarding UBC in this one post, because I care.

lol didn’t know what post to ask this on, so i just chose the one related to ubc.. buuttt any advice for electives?
which year level and are you looking for non-science electives? like arts ones??
year level of the electives? or my year level? and anything im already taking psyc 101 and 102 but i need one more
year level of the electives…uhm psych 208? it’s about evolutionary psychology, if you attend lectures and take good notes in class, you’re golden. but I’m not sure if you want another psych course to add to what you already have.. π haha.
how about eosc 114(distance ed)? I’ve heard FNH 200 is a rather doable one..it’s memorizey, and you get a cheat sheet if you take it in class rather than distance ed
ooh yeah i was going to take more pysc throughout my degree lol and since i need one more course for second term eosc it is π have you taken it?
oh and do you know the minimum amount of credits one has to take in their second year? and if summer credits count towards that?
yeah, I took eosc 114 through distance ed, I liked it because I could work at my own pace(for the most part) if you haven’t read it yet, scroll down and I ramble about what I thought of it https://ravishingrambles.wordpress.com/first-semester-course-overview-first-year/ π if you have any questions though, just ask! π
you need 48 credits in order to move onto 3rd year(so usually a minimum of 24 in second year); make sure you have all your english and lower level requirements done, you can leave one course that’s a lower level requirement(other than english) to do in third year. and I believe you need 15 or more science credits. and summer courses do not count towards your next year’s credit count.
okay thanks! physics is probably going to be that one course cuz all the lectures and labs are already full π lol so do my summer credits count for anything?
haha yeah I know quite a few people that have deferred (some forcefully, some by choice) physics to third/fourth year. well summer credits count towards your WHOLE degree, and I think I just totally lied. sorry!! you just need 48 credits TOTAL to move onto 3rd year π my bad.
ooh so my summer credits do count towards the 48?
that’s what it seems like http://science.ubc.ca/students/requirements/promotion
but most people take 30 credits/year sooo yeah
yeah thats what i get from reading that too lol and thanks! π sorry about my never ending questions haha
NOO WORRIES! glad to be of some help π
