UBC

I am incredibly excited for AMS Firstweek + Annual Freshman Reception. I just want to meet new people in REAL LIFE. Enough with Facebook…I’ve just been ‘Not Now’-ing my friend requests(from UBC students) now…and even deleted some of the people that I HAD accepted in the past..(SORRY!). The more people I have…the more that might end up actually recognizing me…and then I’d have no idea who those people are. And people knowing me, without me knowing them…hehe……CREEPS ME OUT. I’m fairly certain that firstweek is definitely going to be an experience and a half. I would probably need a GPS in order to figure out WHERE my classes are…. uuughh… but knowing me…the GPS would probably screw me over and make me take some long route. End up going in a circle around the building my class is in, without me even knowing. Yes, that definitely freaks me out, the whole ‘getting lost’ on campus thing.. I DO NOT wanna be the one that shows up last in a class that has been going on for about 20 minutes…NO MATTER the size of the class.

BOOKLIST

OH! And also, all of my books in my booklist were released the other day….they are actually released on the SSC…. cuz on the bookstore website, all my books ‘aren’t there'(but that’s cuz some courses have the same books for all the sections)…so to make sure I went on the SSC to check. And my total for my books comes to about $540 (if I was to buy all brand new stuff) …most likely for Math and Chem (if they’re the same as last year…need to look into that) …I will be buying them from a friend. But Biology and English and the Lab manual…I will most likely be buying the brand new stuff. I like brand new books…they smell nice. πŸ˜€

BLOGS

Starting in September….I’m sticking to one colour per month for my posts. So all of September’s posts would be in one colour, October’s in another colour, etc. I wonder how frequently I’ll be able to post once university starts….hmmmm…not like it takes that long, but I’m sure I’ll probably end up skipping some days, unless my life just all of a sudden becomes super interesting and less busy. Ha. I even considered actually starting a separate blog just for UBC stuff….buuuuuuut that’s probably too much of a hassle, best to stick everything in one blog for now. Besides, it’s not like that many people even look at it. So yeah. One blog for now. And as for blog theme…it’s so fun and colourful…but busy at the same time…very ‘bright’…I’ll probably end up changing it again once late Fall comes around….I’ll change the theme based on my mood. Haha.

SUMMER

Yo! Summer, where you goin’ ? These are the last few ‘wrap up’ weeks of the holidays…siigh. And once summertime is over…LOOKING FORWARD TO CHRISTMAS! and WINTER. I sure hope it snows more than usual this winter…as long as it stays clear when it’s time for me to go home after exams. πŸ™‚ I love Christmastime …. such a high spirited season. LOOVESS IT!

UBC move in….15 days..

Time is tickin’ on and on… night time…the time of day when I do the most ‘deep’ thinking….

15 DAYS UNTIL MOVE IN...say what, say WHAT?! Yeah. You heard me.

I don’t know how I feel about it yet…I mean I’m TOTALLY STOKED…..but at the same time…I feel like I’m going to feel like a lost puppy….and I feel kinda nervous/sad…to just start a ‘whole new journey’. I am going to start writing the new chapter of my life… bye bye high school. heelloooo university ! But I guess it’s one of those things you just have to get used to with time. And ifΒ  I try to make it a good experience, it most likely WILL be. OBVIOUSLY I’m not gonna go into it with a negative attitude or anything..HEEEEEEEECCCCKKK NOO! I haven’t stayed away from home for more than a week, so that wil be hard at first…sometimes it’s just hard to let go of something that you’re just so used to…letting go of the environment that you grew up in and whatnot…but surely I will get over that with the help of my ‘new friends’. See..now I feel all excited again. All the happy things make me feel excited (well no duh). I’m pretty excited to go to the Annual Freshman Reception..I think that will definitely JACK UP THE SPIRIT IN MEEE!!

UBC, finding your roommate.

So there are lots of people that have shared rooms, but have no idea WHO their roommate is…so in case you haven’t done this…DO IT.

– Log into UBC SSC (student service centre)

-Go to ‘Housing & Food’

– Then Click on ‘RESIDENTS’ –> ‘Before Moving In’ —>’Contact Roommate/Unit Mate’

– Then choose your term…which in this case is 2011/2012 Winter Session

-And then from there you can choose to release your information…which is just pretty much releasing your name/email address to your roommate…and then hopefully they will/have done the same ! :)Β

Totem? Vanier? DEAL WITH IT.

Oh my goodness, people are posting LIKE MAD about room transfers and all that. I feel like the list of transfers keeps growing and growing. Loads of the older students are posting about how people should just be happy with what they have and that no matter where they are, it’ll be equally as fun. And people that want Totem because it has always been the one with the ‘rowdy’ rep… it really honestly depends who is all in totem… you never know, all the party people could actually be in Vanier…or even equally spread out (which is PRETTY likely). And the people that got the new dorms…most of them are disappointed that they’re in the ‘middle of nowhere’ …and that it takes so long to get anywhere they need to be. But to the people that DID NOT get the new dorms…they treat them like some sacred place. People have gotten to the point where they’re willing to give up their first child for a new dorm (obviously we hope they’re kidding haha). But really, sometimes ‘old is gold’. πŸ˜‰ And when you think about it, how much time are you going to be spending in your dorm? The walls are pretty thin, so if you’re planning on studying in your room…you’re going to get pretty distracted (OFF TO THE LIBRARY YOU GO!) AND I can’t get over how much I am loving and appreciating the enthusiasm and optimism and positive attitudes of the older students. Plus the RAs all seem INCREDIBLY SUPER! And I cannot WAIT to get started with my REZ LIFE!

UBC RESIDENCES 2011 RELEASED!!!

YES!! ALAS! Today was ‘the day’ ….all the first year students can relax and now move on with their lives…except for the ones that are frantically trying to find out who their roommates are/want to desperately switch rooms/houses. People who are extremely desperate to ‘get rid of’ their roommate and are posting on facebook sounding extremely desperate….YA’LL need to keep it together and sound less desperate…like seriously…can you not be a tad bit considerate to whoever your roommate is? Just ‘cuz you don’t know them doesn’t mean that you can treat them like that….posting more than like 5 times about how desperate you are for a single room… geeez…There are definitely other ways to go about that circumstance without seeming offensive and rude.

Some people are even disappointed that they got the BRAND NEW totem dorms, mainly because their classes are nowhere near totem. I’m quite(extremely) happy with my residence…VANIER WOOT WOOT. And it’s a coed house. πŸ™‚ … It’s close to all my classes, and near the beach. Unlike totem which is almost surrounded by trees (don’t plan on living in a forest πŸ˜‰ ) I’m definitely thinking of visiting those totem dorms though…I just want to see them in person…and I’ve got my connections with people, so it’s all good! I can’t believe that move in day is just 18 days away…I can barely take it all in! After getting my room assignment it’s like WOW. SO CRAZY. And my RA seems pretty cool..judging from Facebook (great source, I know.). But yeah, it’s just all so exciting!!! πŸ˜€

Time to Make a ‘To Do List’

Summer has just gone by soo fast, I make it sound like summer is done…but it’s actually not.. I still have 20 days left until move in. Lots to do in 20 days.

TO DO:

  • Upload grad pictures onto Facebook…? (I’ve been meaning to do this since mid June…maybe I’ll just wait until..who knows when? :P). NOT GONNA EVER HAPPEN. πŸ˜›
  • Put my grad photos in an album…I have an album, and I have about 100+ pictures printed out ready to go (since mid June).
  • Get more stuff for my dorm room…ONCE I FIND OUT IF I’M IN A SINGLE OR A SHARED. (maybe once this task is accomplished, I’ll post something about what I’m going to put in my dorm room/what I have for my dorm…)
  • Start making up my list of things to bring to university!!
  • Apply for my UBCcard… ‘cuz I don’t want to wait til September.
  • Take a picture FOR my UBCcard ^
  • Pay off my fines at the public library…they’ve been carried over for QUITE some time…I think it’s time to just get rid of them.
  • Buy jeans. (not that I don’t own any..it’s just I need more…I can’t live without jeans).
  • Organize all my Calculus 12 stuff into one binder, to take to university.
  • Reorganize/get rid of unwanted things on my bookshelf.
  • Call a UBC advisor to figure out something about my ‘potential’ major.
  • Round up all my Starbucks cards..pretty sure I have a total of $30-$40 just from those cards..

Some people just get on my nerves…

I really don’t want to come across as a super complain-y/whine-y person…I’M NOT!!! But some of these posts makes me seem like I’m that type of person..sigh. OH WELL.. I’m just getting my thoughts across. Yes I like to let things out to the internet world instead of bottling it up inside… Don’t judge me. πŸ˜›

I really am not a fan of ‘cocky’ and conceited people…especially the ones that are all talk and no action, if you know what I mean. You know, the ones that say something is really stupid, but they haven’t actually done the thing themselves…or ones that say something is WAAAY too easy for them, and make it seem like they’re just too good to do it(COCKY.)…but they actually haven’t even done the task. Yeah, I think you get the gist of it. Like sometimes when it gets to a certain extent, it’s just considered as immature and even judgmental– THAT is when it gets to me, it’s like can you just shut up for like two seconds? please? Like if you’re not even willing to TRY it..you really shouldn’t be dissing it, or downgrading it, in any form or manner. Yeah…super pet peeve. πŸ˜›Β

UBC booklist 2011…

Soooo today is August 13th, the date that UBC said they would release the booklists for Winter 2011 First Term. And they were somewhat right? πŸ˜› Most courses have been released but some haven’t…now it says that all course materials will be released on August 15th..Some of my courses don’t even have an instructor set…so I’m guessing on August 15th, the instructors will be released as well…cuz the books depend on who your professor is. But I’m glad at leastΒ SOMETHINGΒ has been released…now just waiting for residence and the rest of the books. πŸ™‚ I love my short little blog posts…straight and to the point.Β

[EDIT] : As most of you have noticed by now…the UBC personalized booklist thing..is extremely messed up for Vancouver students…’cuz it takes you to the Okanagan booklist… IT crews need to GET AT IT! πŸ˜› Hopefully it’ll be resolved on August 15th. πŸ™‚

Facebook Humiliation…errr..?

I’ve come across this quite a few times..girls causing drama over Facebook. Thankfully I have never been a victim of this, or carried it out. Public humiliation…really isn’t classy. It’s quite rude and unnecessary. Like seriously…why do people feel the need to post something on a social networking site in order to humiliate someone? Everybody screws up..but you don’t have to post it on Facebook! Β Some people feel that posting such stuff about other people ‘decreases’ the drama? UHM heelllooo.. NO! Even if the person doesn’t feel bad about what they did…it just shouldn’t be posted up on Facebook…that’s just WRONG. The whole Facebook world doesn’t need to know that ‘so and so’ did such a horrible thing. Drama shouldn’t be fed, it should be AVOIDED... Get some class people..
